the public school is a school with no curriculum. it is not accredited, it does not give out degrees, and it has no affiliation with the public school system. it is a framework that supports autodidactic activities, operating under the assumption that everything is in everything. as an educational model, the public school does not apply to a traditional set of values related to success and failure. participation in the public school requires a commitment to process. education is discursive. participation turns the tables; it redistributes the authority between teacher and student, expert and public.
the public school was initiated in the basement of telic arts exchange in los angeles in 2007. there are now public schools hosted throughout the world in locations including berlin, new york and san juan.
